The New York Times, November 11, 1918 – Alice Paul says the defeat of the Democrats in both the House and Senate is a win for suffrage. In analyzing the states where women can vote, all but two states defeated the Democratic candidates, against whom the National Woman’s Party campaigned. For the Senate session that ends March 3, 1919, Alice Paul says the suffragists have picked up at least one more vote in the Senate for the Suffrage Amendment. For the new Senate session that begins after the third of March, several pro-suffrage senators have been elected. read clipping
