The New York Times, June 17, 1919 – Front Page – New York is the sixth state to ratify the Amendment, following Kansas and Ohio, which ratify the same day. Ohio also passes a law to give women the right to vote in presidential elections. A similar Ohio law, passed in 1917, was later overturned in a voter referendum.
