The New York Times, February 15, 1920 – The women at the NAWSA convention celebrate the centennial anniversary of the birth of Susan B. Anthony on February 15, 1820. The convention attendees recall her prediction in 1906 that women would be able to vote across America by 1920. The suffragists are hoping for ratification of the Federal Amendment before the first presidential primary in New Hampshire on March 8. read clipping

 

The New York Times, February 17, 1920 – The National Association Opposed to Woman Suffrage plans two lawsuits to test the constitutionality of the Suffrage Amendment. They want the courts to determine if State Legislatures can ratify the Amendment without a voter referendum. The second suit will test whether the US Constitution can override a state’s right to determine who is allowed to vote in the state. read clipping
