The New York Times, February 22, 1920 – Four more states are needed to ratify the Suffrage Amendment. The suffragists are concentrating on five states: Connecticut, Delaware, Oklahoma, Vermont, and Washington. In order for the Amendment to be ratified before the 1920 election, the governors of these states will have to call special sessions of their Legislatures. The governors of West Virginia and Oklahoma have already called special sessions. The governors of Connecticut and Vermont are opposed to suffrage and will not call special sessions. In Delaware and Washington, the governors have not yet decided on special sessions. read clipping
