The New York Times, March 16, 1920 – The governor of Delaware says he expects the state to ratify the Suffrage Amendment. Carrie Chapman Catt says she is confident of victory in Delaware. The New York Times, March 19, 1920 – The National Woman’s Party asks the US Supreme Court to rule on the injunction preventing suffrage in Ohio pending a voter referendum. read clipping

The New York Times, March 20, 1920 – Four members of President Wilson’s cabinet urge the Democratic legislators in Delaware to vote in favor of suffrage. Carrie Chapman Catt gives a speech in Delaware arguing that suffrage is a national issue, not a state issue, and that many other countries have already given women the right to vote. Mary G. Kilbreth, national president of the Anti-Suffrage Association, says the political leaders in both parties are trying to “sandbag” the legislators in Delaware. read clipping

The New York Times, March 21, 1920 – In the belief that ratification of the Suffrage Amendment is near, Carrie Chapman Catt plans to attend the International Woman Suffrage Alliance in Geneva, Switzerland in June. She expects the final two states, Washington and Delaware, to ratify the Amendment by April 1. read clipping
